Who wants to be part of the first ever Super Match Super league in Ireland
The Battle Grounds Super Match League is being formed to find out who is the best Super Match Arm Wrestler in Ireland in each weight class.
19th September Ballymoney
There will be Pro and Noivce classes.
The weight classes are as follows. U75kg, U90kg, U105kg and 105kg+ Mens.
The Ladies and Masters (Over 50s Men) will be open weight until there are more pullers so we can split the classes. Standard PAA/Irish open rules. Best of 5 matches. Weigh in must be on the scales used for the comp.
As this is a brand new league so there are no rankings yet as there has been no official matches yet.
At the moment it will be first come first served. This means if only 2 men in the under 90kg Pro men class want a match the winner will gain the number 1 ranking and the runner up will gain the number 2 position in that class.
If there are more than 2 arm wrestlers, for instance if there are 4 men wanting to pull. The 1st and 2nd playoff will be between the arm wrestlers with the higher results in the last 2 Pinkertons Irish opens. So if you if you finished 1st and 2nd in the Irish open you will have the super match to contest the number 1 ranking spot. The other 2 men with the lower results will contest 3rd and 4th Ranking. The same will be if 6 puller from the same class want super matches on the day.
Once the ranking tables begin to grow with more arm wrestlers taking part. Everyone will then be able to challenge the person ranked above them or a possible 2 places above them. The competitions director will decide on certain special cases and has final say on a match going ahead. For instance if the 5th ranked man U105kg wants a title shot he may ave to wait until he has got into 3rd position before he can challenge for the title in the weight class.
We all live busy lives so if you turn down a challenge once at an event as the higher ranked puller you will not lose your position. However if you turn down a challenge the 2nd time at the next event you will will move down a place in the rankings. There will be certain situations that the competitions director will use their disgression.
All title matches will take place at the Ballymoney Arm Wrestling HQ. It will be professionally filmed to promote the event.
Dates of future super match competitions will be released soon.
There is the possibility of lower ranked matches being held at other venues/events around the country. This will need to be discussed with the competitions director to ensure you have qualified referee's to officiate at the super match. For example the Super matches that Armagh Geddon put on around Ireland would qualify. As would some of the lower ranked internal club super matches at clubs as long as the competitions director has been consulted.
